My first design work since I've been home. I got the idea looking through a wedding magazine and realized how boring everyone is by only buying strapless dresses. I wanted to mix it up a bit and add a new neckline. But I'm having problems putting detail into the lace.

Please take a look at the lace halter and let me know if you like the design on the lace or if I should change it up a bit. As for the lace train... well... I had problems drawing it in--sketching looked a bit ameteur--so I erased it. I'll update as soon as I get a nice looooong break from work.

EDIT: I'm going to leave this piece unfinished guys. Enjoy what's here... There isn't going to be a final product.

YEAY YOU ARE BACK!!!! we missed you so much!!!! i really like this dress actually, the lace halter does add a uniqueness. If you want to find lace patterns look though the resources on deviant art, there are lots of premade patterns and pens to choose from, even if you dont use them, they make good references.
This is really nice. I like the fabrics chosen, because I'm a big fan of the sleek, sexy, modern look rather than the "Princess Bride" look that's all too common. Sure, not every woman can pull off a dress like this, but then again most women don't look good in a bustle and somehow the bridal industry has convinced everyone that they're still de rigeur. People try to give thier clients what they want and what they want is the fashion equivalent of one of those 99-cent greeting cards covered in glitter. Go for the modern look, gals. Why would you want to wear something that has nothing to do with who you are or the time in which you live? But I digress. It's fabulously simple, and gorgeous...you do really nice wedding gowns...hm. Amsale? Anyway, I'm really glad you're back. Good luck! :shamrock:

I have always tried to design things that are unapologetically beautiful, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. If I can inspire an appreciation for grace and elegance, that would be the ultimate fulfillment of my life's ambition.
I'm not a fan of the train...but the neckline is nice. What if you used skinny pieces of the satin(I'm assuming that's what it is) to trace parts of the lace because to me, the lace looks like it's just stuck onto the dress. I really like the lace bustle though! It's splendiforous!

I think the lace neck adds this kind of… renaissance feeling to it; when women showed no skin. And it's actually very sexy here. ;P It points to the face. I just love the whole thing. Fantastic piece :glomp:

i was never really interested in wedding dresses...because i know....when i get married if i ever...i won't be dealing with them...:) i only know that they're white (or sometimes almost), they have laces...beads...pearls...and what not....but this design caught me...not just because you're back...because it's sooo great that you're back, that it gave me chills!!!! it's just that it gets away from the typical wedding dress without losing the elements...no need for an intricate design of the lace...i think it works best this way..unless you can make it bestest...:)

again...im soo glad that you're back....just as glad as chris right here...

Hey! :D

lets see. Well first off I'd like to say great job on shading this whole thing! It really adds your your design intention when you can create such a beautiful piece of art.

As for the design I really like the lace halter and lace train thing going on. The dress is also wonderful. One small critique- Maybe add some lace-like material to the top or bottom of the dress because I almost feel like the lace portion and the dress are unrelated and do not quite go together. and if you really wanted to throw people for a loop perhaps try a lacey belt of sorts! (keep in mind I have no real aspiration for fashion and probably have no clue what I'm talking about) But that's what I see anyhow and I'm stickin' to it! :D

Glad to have ya back (at least for the time being) I hope work is easy on you adn you can be more active with your work again! :D
