.01. Little Black Dress - Day to Night [23 hours - Adobe Illustrator + Photoshop]

~cjrogers1993 Project Designer criteria was to create The Little Black Dress and bring the garment into an outfit to suit day and night. I was really confused with this in the beginning, but everyone was very helpful and pointed me in the right direction. So a very kind THANK YOU to everyone. Major thanks to *lwcldylan and *RoseyThorn for giving me feedback and tips. And a special thanks to my boyfriend Jeromey for staying up late last night to keep me company and encourage me. *MUAH*

Here is a young woman dressed for a day out to a fashionable workplace, shopping, luncheons... whatever^^ And at night she plans to hit up the club with some of her girls, or spend a romantic evening with her boyrfriend, husband, girlfriend, sister, etc...

I don't really want to explain the garment too much... I'll list fabrications and tell you about the Black Dress is all, because the detail may not show on some computers. Might be a little boring... if it is... I'll leave it out in the future designs, k? Just let me know... (if you read this far)

Transition from Day to Night: In the day outfit, her makeup is a bit more muted, conservative; she shows a bit of a fun edge while subdued to a sophisticated look. At night/evening, she takes off her jacket and puts on some nice dangly earrings and switches her shoes. She will also unbotton her sexy transparent top to show just a little more skin. Her hair is relaxed rather than up in a ponytail and she adds a bit of flirt into her pout with pink lip gloss. She looks more fun and flirty than she did in the daytime hours.

The Dress: strapless | princess seams to waist | assymetrical seam from a little below left ilium to right hip | gathered pleated at point on right hip | prefer polyester lining

----------------------------
Possible Fabrications: Listed in order of desired hand, drape, and properties
----------------------------
Black Dress: Microfiber Polyester: Herringbone or Plain weave | Pima or reg. Cotton: Plain, Herringbone, or Twill weave | Linen: Plain weave (requires suit lining throughout entire garment) | Cotton Blends

Red Shirt: Polyester

Jacket: Cotton: Twill or Plain weave | Nomex: Plain weave | Tweed (wool blend)

Tie: Silk | Polyester

Both Shoes: Leather | Suede | and for fun: True Double Cloth made of wool

Some credit given to my 9Heads book for the poses.

I think the right one is very cool :)
The left one is a bit... ehm... uhm...."complicated"? Probably the main problem is the tie, i don't like ties in a woman dress. sorry :)
:iconlashanathao:
haha^^ ok^^... noted** thanks so much for the suggestion... I'll leave that out in the future
:iconsquid-:
well i like the tie. maybe not that particular color against the red, but i like the idea of it. both looks really fit their criteria while looking really fun and elegant. good job :)

thank you hun^^ i wasnt sure what color the tie should be actually... I'm REALLY bad at chosing colors hehe... XD but thank you^^ I hope I make it past this round

well, the truth is: I dont know crap about fashon, but I feel like they could both use some sort of belt thingy, or maybe a thin jewelry chain of somekind.

Dont get me wrong, this is absolutely beautiful art Lashana, but that is the critique that comes to my head. Big fan of the opaque shirt on the right. :D

I love it - and your skills at adobe and Illustrator are getting better all the time!
Fabulous work
:iconlashanathao:
ahhh yes^^ I was thinking of the same thing... except... I suck at drawing jewelry... I don't wear jewelry in person either... can't afford to buy small things to accessorize... so I am not familiar with jewelry what-so-ever. I DO agree with you though. You may know more about fashion than you think^^
:iconlashanathao:
thank you hun^^ i really wish there were better tutorials out there for illustrator though. I'd like to actually color with vectors than have to bring to photoshop XD but thank you!!
:iconlwcldylan:
Yeah, I suppose maybe you are right :) I feel professional now. =P thanks! I dont wear jewelry either in real life, well cept for my bracelet my little sister gave to me that says 'live drug free'. Ta ta for now :D
